Special Vehicle Provisions
interstate Vs Non Interstate
Non-interstate roads use formula W = 900(L + 40) where L = distance in feet between extreme axles, max 88,000 lbs GVW. Number of axles NOT considered on non-interstate roads.
dump Trucks
On state roads, standard dump trucks limited by wheelbase-based formula. A 318" wheelbase dump limited to ~62,100 lbs. Super Dump on same wheelbase can reach ~73,800 lbs. Axle groups less than 42" apart limited to 24,000 lbs; 42" to 6 feet limited to 34,000 lbs.
